What is the Three Rivers Wine Trail of Minnesota?

The Three Rivers Wine Trail is Minnesota's first wine trail and is comprised of six Minnesota
wineries all located within the St. Croix, Mississippi, and Cannon River
valleys.

What wineries are on the Trail and where are they located?

WineHaven Winery & Vineyard in Chisago City, Northern Vineyards Winery in Stillwater, Saint Croix
Vineyards & Winery in Stillwater, Alexis Bailly Vineyard in Hastings, Falconer Vineyards in Red Wing,
and
Cannon River Winery in Cannon Falls.

Are all of the Wine Trail members owned by the same company?

No, each winery is privately owned and operated.  We have formed the Wine Trail to promote
Minnesota wineries and local tourism and to offer exciting activity for wine lovers in Minnesota.

How far apart are the wineries?

The distances from one winery to the next vary but the average distance between neighboring
wineries is about 22 miles and the total distance between the stop farthest north (WineHaven
Winery & Vineyard in Chisago City) and the stop farthest south (Falconer Vineyards in Red Wing) is
a
pproximately  80 miles.

How do I get from one winery to the next? Can I ride my bike or take a bus?

Most people drive from one winery to the next but you can organize your own private
transportation with a limousine or tour bus operator.

The Three Rivers Wine Trail members strongly encourage responsible drinking and
recommend each group to have a designated driver.

What is there to do on the Wine Trail?

Most people spend a day, weekend, or a couple weekends visiting the vineyards/wineries and
sampling (and, of course, purchasing) the wide variety of wines offered while allowing time for
picnicking and/or lunch/dinner.

Will I get to tour the vineyards and winemaking facilities at each stop?

Each winery/vineyard has different hours of operation.  Please refer to the specific information
for each winery or contact them for more information.

How much does it cost to go on the Wine Trail?

There is no fee for participating in the Three Rivers Wine Trail passport program.  Please refer
to the specific information for each winery or contact them for more information about tasting
policies and pricing.

When can I go on the Wine Trail?

Each winery/vineyard has different hours of operation.  Please refer to the specific information
for each winery or contact them for more information.

Would I be able to buy wine from wineries on Sunday?

Yes, each winery operates under the Minnesota Farm Winery Act that allows them to be open
and to sell wine on Sundays.  However, under the Act, they cannot open until noon so take
your time and enjoy a relaxing Sunday brunch at one of the great restaurants on the Trail
before visiting.

Do I receive anything for visiting all of the wineries on the Trail?

You can pick up a Three Rivers Wine Trail passport at any of the wineries and will receive a
stamp at each winery you visit.  When you collect 5 out of 7 stamps, you can enter your
passport into a drawing to win a gift basket of wine and products from each Wine Trail
member.  Drawings are held periodically throughout the year.

Are there ever any events that all wineries on the Trail participate in?

Yes, a couple Wine Trail events are offered throughout the year.  Please check the Events page
of this website for more information.

What else is there to do in communities where the Three Rivers Wine Trail members are
located?

Please refer to each community's local tourism bureau and/or Chamber of Commerce.
